Come back in five minutes…

I need to finish some work this weekend, but I can’t, because I can’t remember my gotomypc password. I know it’s the same as another one, but I have no idea which one it is. So I try three different things and then it locks me out, but only temporarily, so it just feels like I’m being punished. It’s bad enough to be a slacker and end up with homework on Saturday, I don’t need guilt trips from my tools.

Apart from this, today was pretty great. I went to a workshop last night and this afternoon where we learned dances from Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan. It was fascinating, since I don’t know anything about these countries on the steppes of central Asia. I still don’t know much of anything about them, but I know now that there are distinct peoples with different musical and dance traditions and costumes. And I’ve learned that their folk dances are not so different from my own. In part of the Uzbek dance and the Turkmen dance, the teacher explained that there was a lot of spinning and that the dance culture was not very developed, so they just spin a lot. It made me sad, not because I don’t like spinning (I do) but because I suspect that if your dance culture isn’t very developed, your people must have had to work very hard or move a lot. I don’t know if this is true, but I wonder. I loved the music, too.
